Acne Tips - To Pick or Not
Tips on how and when to squeeze
- but only if you must!!
The one and only rule to
follow is:
Only ever squeeze a spot with a definite head that
looks about to burst - pressure on an unready infected spot spreads
bacteria below the skin's surface, infecting the surrounding tissue.

Red and Inflamed - STOP!
If you have a red
inflamed spot, don't touch it.
Any attempt to squeeze
it will result in forcing the contents of the spot deeper into the
skin.
And all you'll get is
a redder, more inflamed spot than you had before.
Don't do it.
 Yellow
Custard Top
These CAN be squeezed.
Wash your hands thoroughly. If you don't, any germs on your hands
may infect the wound.
Put a tissue or
sterile cotton ball over your finger.
Using the side of your
thumb and the end of your finger, very gently start to squeeze.
Don't use your nails as this will damage your skin.
Stop if you're
applying a lot of pressure and nothing is happening or when you
see clear fluid, rather than yellow pus or when you see red
because the spot is beginning to bleed.
When you've finished
dab it with antiseptic or tea tree oil. Once the yellow pus is
out, the spot will heal more quickly than an unsqueezed yellow top
would, providing that you now leave it well alone. Now wash your
hands again.
 Blackheads and
Whiteheads
If they're black you can
squeeze but if they're small, white raised lumps leave them
alone.
You can use a comedone
extractors -but your thumb and forefinger will do the job
better.
